He was predeceased by: his parents, John Smith and Laura Deaton Smith. He is survived by: his wife Jennie Belle Turner Smith; his daughters, Debbie Pitts, Wanda Smith, Jennifer Smith (Woody Burton), Ella Cole (Lonnie), Kathy Jones (Delmer) and Brenda Queen (Jack); and his friend Jerry Strong. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren.
