He was predeceased by: his parents, Shermon Combs and Ethel Blair Combs. He is survived by: his wife Frieda Combs; his children, John D. Combs Jr. and Tina Ann Combs; his siblings, Earline Gibson, Judy Combs, Luther Combs of Arnold Combs, W. S and Napier; and his grandchildren, Josalyn Danielle Adams, Isaiah Jax Adams and Jasmine Rayne Adams. He is also survived by nephews and nieces.
