He was predeceased by: his parents, Roland Rust and Martha Sisk Rust; and his siblings, Charles, Robert, Naron Rust, Lillian Knowles, Ruth Robertson, Nancy Turner and Peggy Snyder.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Rust of Allensville; his sons, Ralph Rust (Jennifer) of Nashville, Roger Rust (Rhonda) of Kingston Springs and Patrick Rust of Allensville; and his siblings, James Rust of Madisonville, Kentucky and Cynthia Templeman of Elkton. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
