He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Self and Rosie Lee Coursey (Shoemake); his daughter Vicki Self; his granddaughter Aleecia Rose; and his siblings, Russell Self, Buck Self, Elizabeth Hadden, Donie Shoemake, Frances Jennings and Dorothy Abney.
He is survived by: his wife Vicki Diane Self of Adairville, KY.; his daughters, Farrah Carpenter (Kelly) of Russellville, KY and Sabrina Rose of Bowling Green, KY; his grandson Dustin Self of Russellville, KY.; his brother Jessie Abney of Greenbrier, TN.; his grandchildren, Haley Alford (Devin), Keyara Rose, Shaunna Rose, Kallie Jo Carpenter, Taysha Rose, Alectra Rose and Amiya Bibb; and his great grandchildren, Kayden Self, Adrionna Self, Aubrey Self, Khloe Self and Cash Davidson.
