He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Kurfiss and Mabel Kurfiss (Waddle); his daughter Brenda Kurfiss McCurdy; his sister LaVonne Broce Sampson; his nephew Kelly Broce; and his in-laws, Carl and Garnet Fields.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn; his daughters, Debbie Gerard (Roy) of Hutchinson, KS and Denise Cessna (Mark) of Hutchinson, KS; his stepchildren, Deni Richards (Randal) of Ardmore, OK and Todd Bickel (Julie) of Overland Park, KS.; his grandchildren, Seth Gerard, Caleb Gerard (Katarra), Matt McCurdy (Kelly), Ryan McCurdy (Hannah), Tyler Osteen, Katie Morgan (Casey) and Taylor Bickel; his niece Lori Broce Upchurch; and his brother-in-law Phil Fields (Gale). He is also survived by his eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery Pavilion (1208 N College St, Winfield, KS 67156).
