He was predeceased by: his parents, Daisy Irene Scheid (Hollenbeck) and Virgil Scheid; and his brothers, Earl and Ralph Scheid. He is survived by: his children, Paula S. Scheid (Stephen Rosengren) of Topeka, KS, Marcia Jo Scheid Watkins (Galen) of Whiting, KS and Mark W. Scheid (Glenda Herl) of Topeka, KS; and his grandchildren, Joshua Watkins (Ericka), Zachary Watkins (Cori), Matthew Watkins (Kristin), Megan Martin (Anthony) and Jared Herl (Allison). He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grand-daughter.
The lying in state was held on Tuesday, March 4th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Mercer Funeral Home (1101 W 4th St, Holton, KS 66436). Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 5th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, March 5th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, March 5th 2025 at the Springhill Cemetery.
