She was predeceased by: her parents, Ras Berry and Stella Beatrice Thornton (Adams); her husband Dennis B Shields; and her brothers, Raymond and Glen Thornton.
She is survived by: her children, Claudia Burns of Gardner, KS and Michael Shields of Wellsville; her siblings, Joyce Todd (John) of Ottawa, Johnny Thornton (Peggy) of Lyndon, KS and Huston Thornton (Susan) of Pomona, KS; her grandchildren, Amanda Fluderer of Baldwin, KS, Melissia Hudson (Zach) of Paola, KS, Amy Wilhite of Gardner, Ted Shields of Wichita, KS and Conner Shields of Wellsville; and her great grandchildren, Jaycee Fluderer, Braeden Fluderer, Jayden Whitling, Ava Whitling, Colton Hudson, Maddie Hudson, Ezera Dunwoody and Austin Dunwoody. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
