It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Leroy McConnell (Wellington, Kansas), born in Wichita, Kansas, who passed away on April 19, 2020, at the age of 70, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Alice Mae Stam and Jewell Dean McConnell; and his sister Billie Ann Lopez. He is survived by: his close friend Mike Bartelson; his wife Gaylene of Wellington; his children, Tamara Kaye Barker (Todd) of Wichita, KS, Richard Wayne McConnell (Kristi) of Derby, KS and Brooke Melene Spellmeyer (John) of Derby, KS; his grandchildren, Taryn Zweygardt (Cayle), Trayce Cornejo, Tanner Barker, Jayden Cornejo, Page McConnell (Josh Mark) and Andrew Spellmeyer (Sumi); his great grandchildren, Collins and Rhett Zweygardt; and his sisters, Carol Deakins of Monkey Island, OK and Janet McConnell of Derby, KS. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.
