He was predeceased by: his parents, Arlis Troutman and Dorothy Troutman (Nichols); and his brother Kris Troutman. He is survived by: his wife Carol Nichols; his children, Jeremy Troutman (Amy) of Owensboro, Joshua Troutman (Megan) of Wichita and Amy Olsen (Joshua) of Tonganoxie, Kansas; his grandchildren, Cole, Cason, Kylie Troutman of Owensboro, Otto and Ozzie Troutman of Wichita, Kansas; and his siblings, Ronald Troutman (Jam) and Connie McFarland (Steven) of Allen. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at the Wellington Golf Club.
