He is survived by: his parents, Corky Simpson and Marjorie Simpson (Wharry) of Tucson; his sisters, Amy Dodson of Tucson and Jennifer Weimer of Tucson; his daughter Dr. Sarah Simpson (Chris) of Houston; and his nieces, Rebecca Hall and Annika Weimer.

The family has asked friends to consider a contribution to the American Lung Association.

“Jeff and I served in the Navy together. We became very close friends as we have been for 47 years. We both liked to fish we fished in Lake Mead in Las Vegas NV and I also fished with him in Wellington. I was in contact with him a day before he died and he said he was fine though he was having problems with talking. We decided it would be best just to text back and forth. Jeff you will always be my brother. Rest in Peace my brother see you on the other side”
