He was predeceased by: his parents, Berl Atkerson and Margaret Atkerson (Beeson); his grandparents, Roy and Algie Beeson; his sister Joan Sangster; and his half-brother Dick Cogzill.
He is survived by: his wife Alberta of Wellington; his brother Eugene Atkerson of Delhi, CA; his half-siblings, Don Cogzill of Modesto, CA and Wanda West; his children, Cindy Smith (Terry) of Wichita, Sondra Short (Robert) of Wellington and Mark Atkerson (Karra) of Wellington; his grandchildren, Sheree Smith of Wichita, Christine Short of Wellington, Stephanie Short of Wellington, Erica Short of Kansas City, Brent, Mikey and Zack Atkerson of Wellington; and his great grandchild Savannah Saunders of Wellington. He is also survived by aunts.
A memorial has been established in his name and loving memory with the First Christian Church.
