She was predeceased by: her parents, John W. Ahlers and Barbara Ahlers (Steinlein); her husband Harold "Buss" Root; and her siblings, Bernard Ahlers, Noel Ahlers, Lucille Ahlers, Dorothy Meyer, Lois Scheele, Naomi Knuppel, Anna May Herda and Ruth Funke.
She is survived by: her children, Randy Root (Kathy) of Glen Carbon, IL and Sue Schindler of O'Fallon, IL; her grandchildren, Tim Root (Julie), Lindsey Vaughn (Bobby), Kendra Clark (Cody), Jason Schindler (Jessi) and Kayla Mitchener (Allan Kellerman); and her great grandchildren, Abigail Root, Addison Root, Holden Root, Amelia Rapien, Clayton Clark, Alice Schindler, Riley Vaughn, Paige Mitchener and Liam Kellerman.
A memorial fund is established to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Disabled American Veterans Charity.
