He was predeceased by: his wife Fern Black (Nelson); his siblings, Patsy Clair, Hershel Black and Jerry Black; and his grandson Christopher Cooper Black.

He is survived by: his children, Shelia Haas (Kenneth), Clifford Black of Valley Center, Brett Black (Fran) of Valley Center and Gary Black (Greta) of Wichita. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren.
