He was predeceased by: his son Clifford L. Wells; and his siblings, Harold, Claude, Merle, Donald, Opal, Verna and Ruth.

He is survived by: his son Buddy E. Wells (Debbra); his stepdaughters, Julie Thompson (Richard) and Jacquie Means; his sister Fae O. Ozburn (Harold); his grandchildren, Tiffany Culp (Dale), Allison Garrison (Michael), David Wells (Elizabeth), Ginny Smith (Russell), Gabriel Wells (Jessica), Misti Irwin (Jason) and Christopher Wells; his great grandchildren, Alex Culp, Danielle Culp, Leonard Culp, Aidan Culp, Caleb Garrison, Maddilyn Garrison, Julia Garrison, Lillian Garrison, Joshua Garrison, Michael Boyd Garrison, Grace Wells, Toby Wells, Yosiah Smith, Zedekiah Smith, Besora Smith, Azaria Smith, Austyn Wells, Ariana Wells, Mckinley Irwin and Sawyer Irwin; his former wife Virginia Lea Smith; and his wife Lois Marie. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
