He is survived by: his wife Julia Burns Kennedy; his brother Ernest Kennedy of Chelsea, VT.; his sons, Randy Kennedy (Marguerite), Patrick Kennedy, James Kennedy (Sami) of Topeka, KS and Jeffrey Kennedy (Oulay) of Lawrence, KS; his grandchildren, Michael Kennedy, Karla Kennedy, Rachel Kennedy, Jason Kennedy, Nick Kennedy and Kristina Kennedy; his stepgrandchildren, Anita Hilanthom, Angela Hilanthom of Lawrence, KS, Peter Hilanthom and Michelle Barnes of Topeka; and his great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Abigail Thompson, Saphira, Alex, Amaya Kennedy, Maylania, Kaleb Langdon, Leo, Kai Hilanthom and Evelyn Barnes.

“James I am so sorry for your to hear about you dad's passing . It is so hard to lose a father. You start to remember all the good times you had and wished you talked about them more with him. Phil was a good friend to Nick and I ,he was our crew first you know .Had some really good times.. I would see him at Doorstep all the time. he would always came to see and harass me. I will miss that. Not many old time balloonist left. Take care of your mother and know you are thought of .”
