He was predeceased by: his spouse Ollie Marthella Keeling; his parents, Fred Stewart and Beatrice Stewart (Marthella Stewart); and his sister Evelyn Stewart Rutledge. He is survived by: his children, Fred L. Stewart III, Marcell Stewart, Odell Stewart, Tina Stewart and Renee Stewart; and his siblings, Prilla L. Stewart Stroman and Thomas Nolan Stewart. He is also survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Fred's religious foundation began at New Mount Zion Baptist Church that was formerly located on Madison Street in the Bottoms.
