He was predeceased by: his parents, Francisco Ruiz and Delfina Ruiz (Blancas); his wife Irene Ruiz; and his son Raphael Valdez Ruiz. He is survived by: his sons, Michael Lee Valdez and Angelo Michael Ruiz (Michele Berendsen); his granddaughter Halie Riedel (Kelsey); and his siblings, Frank Ruiz (Sarah), Susanne Brower (Willie Lang), Phyllis Ruiz (Michael Ybarra) and Patricia Bryan (Anthony).
