She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Lucile Bailey Mahieu and Robert G. Mahieu; her daughter Elisabeth; her husband Jean-Andre Demonchaux; her children, Theodore Demonchaux (Carrie Stutzman Demonchaux) and Catherine Demonchuax-Botwin; and her grandchildren, Natalie Demonchaux and Noelle Demonchaux.

As a staff psychiatrist at Menninger Foundation beginning in 1968, she served as Children's Division Director of Admissions and Diagnosis and later Director of Pre-school Day Treatment Center.
