She was predeceased by: her parents, William Melvin and Verna Ellen Broadbooks Barrett; her siblings, Opal Dimond (Kenneth), Russell Barrett (Babe), Eileen and Irene Barrett; and her nephew Patrick Dimond.

She is survived by: her husband John J Gilkison; her great-nieces and great-nephews, Marsha Palmberg (Kent) of Topeka and Chris Gilkison (Jayme) of Lake Jackson, Texas; and her grandchildren, Braden Palmberg (Dawn) of Topeka, Valerie Stebbins (Jeff) of Topeka, Scott Palmberg (Candace) of San Antonio, Karissa Chott (Craig) of St. Louis and Tyler Gilkison (Ashley) of Austin. She is also survived by six great-grandsons, four step grandchildren.
