He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Francis Jacob Desch and Eileen Geneva Desch (Head); his former wife Sherry Avis; his daughters, Wendy Branson (Desch) and Paula Webb (Desch); his wife Jan Desch; his sister Judy Alexander; his grandchildren, Kody Renyer (Taylor), Kellie Kraus (Kory), Sydney Webb, Logan Webb and Lilly Branson; his great grandchildren, Keagan Kraus, Karsyn Kraus, Holland Renyer, Blayke Renyer, Hayes John Renyer and Briar Renyer; and his niece Nicole Ramer (Stephen).

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to: 1) American Legion, Post 421, 3110 SW Huntoon St. Topeka, Ks 2) Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene, 3501 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka.

“I am very sorry for the loss of John. When we were younger, our families spent a lot of time together. In 1951, when John and his family were flooded out of their farm home, they came and stayed at our home on a farm not far away, until they could get re-settled. When we were both in college at Washburn University, we visited regularly. John was very much like his parents, kind, friendly and considerate. He will be missed by all. Edward John Desch, Jr. Richmond,, Virginia”
