He is survived by: his wife Polly Palmer; his son William James Brunkhardt; his brother Gene Brunkhardt (Norma) of Manhattan Beach, CA; his sisters-in-law, Eileen Brunkhardt of Denver, CO and Penny Lumpkin; and his close friends, Dr. Christine Stanson, Dr. Jennifer Klemp and Victoria Knudson.

Visitation was held on Friday, September 6th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel (4700 SW 17th St, Topeka, KS 66604). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 6th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A reception was held on Friday, September 6th 2024 from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the same location.
