He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerald Grimes and Ellen Grimes; and his brother Larry Grimes. He is survived by: his children, Kari Ritter (Topeka), Todd Grimes (Shawnee), Maria (Ben Buchanan) and Isabel Grimes (Topeka); his granddaughter Ava Ritter; and his wife Vicky. He is also survived by his children, his granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Brennan Mathena Funeral Home (800 SW 6th Ave, Topeka, KS 66603). A rosary was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Fellowship Bible Church (6800 SW 10th Ave, Topeka, KS 66615). A burial was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery (801 SW Westchester Rd, Topeka, KS 66606).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the 70th Infantry Division Association or the College of Architecture, Planning & Design at Kansas State University, two organizations Gary held in high regard, sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave. Topeka, KS 66603.
