With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Donald Eugene Carey of Topeka, Kansas, born in Smithville, Missouri, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 14, 2024 at the age of 75. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Emmett "Elmer" and Nellie Marie Carey (Mathias); his uncle Henry Brown; his grandparents, John William, Leona Grace Carey (Kidwell), David Leander and Ada Mary Mathias (Kennedy); his aunts, Edith and Mildred Brown; his uncle Emory Deaton; and his stepgranddaughter Tamra Dennis.

He is survived by: his daughter Victoria G. Carey (Kirk Taylor) of Topeka; his grandchildren, Kalub, Kolton and Kameron; his great grandchild Bryson Everett-Knox; his stepchildren, Martha Griffith of Topeka, Kelvin Lynn of Topeka, Nancy Roy of Topeka, Lois Taylor of Ozark, MO and Earnest Jackson of Plano, TX; and his stepgrandchildren, Jonathan Morse, Makenzie, Samantha, Lauren, Jessica Lake, Michelle, William, Gio, Nico and Melo Jackson.

“Dear Victoria and family, how heavy your hearts must be at Don's passing. I know mine is! We met years ago when we were both new hires at the Topeka Health Agency and became fast friends with our love of decorating for the Agency parties. When Don married Nancy, Galen and I would go dancing with them, Aunt Ethel and Paul and Mike Wingo. What good times we had! Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all. Pat Stallbaumer”
