She was predeceased by: her parents, Norman Winkler and Clara Mueller Winkler; her former husband Fred Berrong; her stepson Finney Berrong; and her stepgrandson Kevin Berrong.

She is survived by: her former husband William Schott; her husband Jim McLain; her daughter Denise Schott-Malek of Rockford, IL; her grandchildren, Marly Schott of Chicago, IL and Bryan Malek, Jr. of Superior, WI; her stepgranddaughter Sophie Gaziano of Rockford, IL; her stepdaughter-in-law Katheryn Berrong of Jeffersonville, IN; her stepgrandsons, Michael Berrong of Zionsville, IN and Craig Berrong of Louisville, KY; her brother Alan Winkler (Effa) of McFarland, KS; her nephew Jeff Winkler of Corinth, TX; and her niece Amy Adams.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Lowman United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Research Fund, and those may be sent in care of Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego.
