He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael A. Wirthman and Marie Wirthman; his wife Ethel L. Hale Smarker; and his brother Robert L. "Bob" Wirthman. He is survived by: his stepson Kevin Smarker (Lana); and his stepgrandchildren, Jacob Smarker, Laura Kelly, Jessica Smarker, Luke Smarker, Beth Fields and Lindsay Svarczhopf. He is also survived by two nieces and a nephew.
