He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Leslie Merle and Margaret Lee Brooks (Kinzer); his sons, Michael Duane Brooks (Kay) of Park City, Timothy Alvin Brooks (Melody) of Udall and Patrick Leslie Brooks of Topeka, Kansas; and his siblings, Mervin Brooks (Sharon) of Grove, Marvin Brooks (Sandy) of Thayer and Sheryl Lavon Vanderford. He was also cherished by ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
