He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Smedley and Dorothy Smedley (Kirk); his former wife Joyce Ann Burgan; his granddaughter Cami Umbarger; his great grandchildren, Hollie Betts, Jaxon Betts and Averie Betts; his siblings, Betty Smith, Helen Fogel and Sonny Smedley; and his stepson Barry Welch.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ellen Zaragosa; his children, LaDonna Umbarger (Mike), Cindy Colbert (William), Dee Botkin (Vernon) and Terry Smedley (Ruby); his stepchildren, Tina Byers (Mike), Jess Welch and Shelly Barnow (Rob); and his brother Vernie Smedley (Glenda). He is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
