He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry A. Osterhaus and Frances Osterhaus (Holthaus); his grandson Jeremy Bernasek; his siblings, Delores Brucken (Hap), JoAnn Sandmann, Marvin Osterhaus (JoAnn), Sister Immaculata (Mary Alice), Edward Osterhaus and Henry Osterhaus (Hank); and his brother-in-law Don Eisenbarth.
He is survived by: his wife Zita Hickman; his children, Rose Bernasek (Marvin) of Beattie, KS, Mike Osterhaus (Lori) of Beattie, Jim Osterhaus of Liberty, NE, Linda Heinen (Doug) of Axtell, Carol Kuckelman (Kent) of Axtell and Kathy Haller (Jeff) of Wamego, KS.; his siblings, Mildred Eisenbarth of Hoyt, Richard Osterhaus Beatrice (Mary Kay), Jerry Osterhaus (Judy) of Seneca, Sharon Broxterman (Dick) of Sabetha, Jeanette Koch (Elmer) of Kansas City and Dennis Osterhaus (Kathleen) of Sabetha; and his brother-in-law Gus Sandmann of Blue Rapids. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A rosary was held on Monday, January 20th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the Holy Family Church (600 Main St, Summerfield, KS 66541). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
