He is survived by: his wife Mary Jo Sherwood of Sublette; his son Rusty Sherwood of Sublette; and his granddaughter Maddie Sherwood of Sublette. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

“I grew up loving to be with Mike, my Uncle. He was special to me from early years until now. He was always interested in my life and it was clear we loved one another. Mike was not always verbal in his sentiments; but I knew so well that I mattered to him. He loved my husband Forrest equally and often would invite us to move to Kansas. I will miss him greatly. I am so grateful for many memories. I pray that Mary Jo & Rusty & Madeline will rest in God's peace in the days to come. Shelley”
