He is survived by: his wife Doris Feuers of Copeland; his daughters, Jo Birney of Copeland, Teresa Atwood (Chris) of Goodland and Thaendra Christenson of Tennessee; his brothers, Michael Birney of Dodge City and Neil Birney of Anderson; his grandchildren, Kayla Birney, Michael Birney, Adrian Birney and Rachel Montoya; and his great grandchild Nataly Bejaranl.
