He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert and Nora; his wife Nancy; his daughter Becky Wiess; and his siblings, Albert Thayer, Austin Ray Thayer, Earl Thayer, Loeta McCall and Norene Thayer.
He is survived by: his spouse Devota Byfield; his children, Franklin Brown of Stockton, Angela Veatch (Randy) of Hutchinson, Cherie Garcia of Frazier, CO and Ed Thayer of Stockton; and his brother Michael Thayer. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
