He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester L. Kennedy and Frances M. Coudriet Kennedy; his wife Kay; his brother Lester F. Kennedy; and his niece Elizabeth K. Temple-Cook.

He is survived by: his children, Kerby, Kala, Karen and Emily; and his sister Vanetta L. Kennedy. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and two great granddaughters.

Memorials may be given to Rice County Women's Thrift Shop or First United Methodist Church, Sterling in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
