It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Geral Loy Henry Schmidt of Sterling, Kansas, born in Weatherford, Oklahoma, who passed away on March 27, 2021, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ted Schmidt and Ruth Traudt Schmidt. He is survived by: his wife Margie Rempel; his children, Susan Riffe (Lee) of Dallas, TX and Clark Schmidt (Jessica) of Sterling; his sisters, Loretta Schmidt (Howard) of Corn, OK and Barbara Goodman (Ron) of Conway, AR; and his grandchildren, Garrett (Claire), Allison Riffe, Debra, Wyatt and Waylon Schmidt. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church, Sterling, Rice County Community Healthcare Foundation, or Sterling College Women's Basketball Program in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
