He was predeceased by: his parents, Andy Bruning and Hazel Wendt Bruning; his wife Barbara Lee Alspaugh; and his brother Eldon Bruning. He is survived by: his children, Scott Bruning (Vickie) of Ocala, FL and Susan Wigginton (Hugh) of Hoxie, KS; his nephew Bart Bruning; his niece Tammy Rodriquez; his grandchildren, Christopher Bruning and Lizabeth Carriero; and his great grandchildren, Damon Carriero, Allison Bruning, Maddie Bruning and Logan Hall.

Memorials may be given to the Sterling Country Club or the Sterling American Legion Post #128 in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
