He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Cooper and Violet Marie Roughton (Carlson); his wives, Ernestine M. Hester and Shirley Ann Glenn; and his brother Doug.

He is survived by: his children, Sandra McVey (Steve), Karen Ware (David), Cindy Waltrip (Gary), Brian Roughton (Lai-Har), Glenn Fortmayer (Lorie), Abby Fortmayer (Ron) and Breaux. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice.
