She was predeceased by: her parents, Wardie M. Hawkins and Lavina C. Hawkins (Carver); her brother Duane Hawkins; her nephews, Larry Baetz and Jerry Hawkins; her brother-in-law Leland Baetz; and her nephew-in-law Milo Shellito.
She is survived by: her son Darin Hawkins (Jessica) of Smith Center; her sister Helen Baetz of Smith Center; her sister-in-law Maydeen Hawkins of Smith Center; and her grandchildren, Ashton of Smith Center, Avery of Smith Center and Adrian Hawkins of Smith Center.
Memorials may be given to Melva Jean Hawkins Memorial Fund and can be sent in care of the funeral chapel.
