It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donald Eugene Owen (Smith Center, Kansas), born in Wichita, Kansas, who passed away on September 30, 2024, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though Donald Eugene may journey beyond the horizon of our sight, his essence remains woven into the very fabric of our being — a guiding light in the darkness, a beacon of hope in the night.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jess Owen and Beulah Owen (Sheffield). He is survived by: his significant other Jeanette Elaine Moore; and his children, David Owen (Shelly) of Baldwin City, Dana Hughes (Duane) of Smith Center and Jennifer Corbett (Lorin) of Kensington. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 3rd 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Rentschler Family Mortuaries Simmons-Rentschler Mortuary (116 W 1st St, Smith Center, KS 66967). A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 4th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Sunnyside Cemetery (408 N Hooker St, Caney, KS 67333).
