She was predeceased by: her parents, Raymond Ortega and Virginia Ortega (Munoz). She is survived by: her husband Guadalupe "Lupe" J. Escalante, Sr.; her children, Juanita Bradley (Ivan), Lupe Joe Escalante, Jr., Michael A. Griggy-Escalante (Mark) and Patrick Escalante (Veronique); and her siblings, Raymond "Sonny" Ortega (Rebecca), Rick Hernandez (Tina), Rose Vega (Moises), Virginia Martinez (Joe) and Patricia Adame (Norbert). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions can be made in Mary's memory to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
