He was predeceased by: his parents, Aloys Gruenke and Barbara Gruenke; and his former wife Beverly Woodhouse Gruenke. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Nelson Gruenke; his children, Jae Gruenke (Eric Barnhill), Elaine Gruenke (Gawain Weaver) and Matthew Gruenke; the parent of his children Gigi Gruenke; his children, Ryan Hadenfeld (Naiana), Ashlin Hoffhines (Zak) and Maria Hernandez; and his siblings, Mary Ann Senn (Pat), Mark Gruenke, Carol Orrell (Jack), Jerry Gruenke (Julie) and Dennis Gruenke (Darlene). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Astronomical Society of Kansas City and to the Kansas City Symphony.
