John Lee Carlson Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John L. Carlson (Shawnee, Kansas), born in Monett, Missouri, who passed away on October 18, 2022, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends.
John grew up and spent most of his adult life in Monett, MO. He was a graduate of Monett High School, class of 1966, and attended college at Missouri Southern State College in Joplin, MO. John's entire professional career was in the shoe industry with Jumping Jacks Shoe and Munro Shoe. John's career allowed him to see many parts of the world few others are afforded the opportunity. He visited the beaches of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, traveled the streets of England and Italy, drank beer in Taiwan, and stood on the Great Wall of China. Although John was humble about his travels, he took pride in his work and the experiences it offered. His greatest regret in life was that his family was not able to see the world with him. John was the ultimate family man. Although he cherished his friends, his family always came first… and it was not close. No one could have loved his high school sweetheart, Mary, more than he did. His family was his identity until the very end. Husband, father, grandfather, friend; we were all so lucky to know John Carlson.
John was proceeded in death by his mother and father, Della (Wallner) Carlson and CJ Carlson, and his son Scott Carlson. He is survived by his wife Mary Sue (Powell) Carlson, and children Greg and Stephanie (Click) Carlson, and Grant Carlson, and his grandchildren Tyler, Madelyn, and Veronica Carlson.
Graveside services will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, KS at 1:00pm, Friday, November 4th, 2022.
