He was predeceased by: his parents, Artie McGill and Violet McGill (Griffin); and his son Clayton McGill. He is survived by: his close friend Kathy Trewin; his daughters, Patricia McGill of Cherryvale, Denise Drake (Doug) of Coffeyville and Kristie Schwaninger (Erik) of Sedan, Kansas; his stepsons, Mark Trewin (Dee) of Decatur, Randy Trewin (Delana) of Granbury, Mike Trewin (Sue) of Fall River and Harlon Trewin of Sedan, Kansas; and his sisters, Heloise Windsor (Gary) of Chautauqua and Patsy Stipp (Paul) of Neodesha, Kansas. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
