He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Wells and Albany Wells; his grandchild Christopher Alan Ricker; and his siblings, Ivan Wells of Sedan and Opal Wells of Sedan.

He is survived by: his wife Sumiko Muromoto; his children, James William, Melanie Sue Ricker and David Wayne Wells (April Dawn); and his grandchildren, David Michael Wells and Judith Albany Wells.
