He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester C. Zimmerman and Lillian Zimmerman (Herrman); and his stepfather Norbert K. Leiker. He is survived by: his wife Jolene M. Hertel of LaCrosse; his sons, Lance Zimmerman (Andria) of St. George and Kyle Zimmerman (Sara) of Schoenchen; his mother-in-law Delores Hertel of Schoenchen; his siblings, Brian Zimmerman (Lori) of Ulysses, Linda Cole (Aaron) of Russell, Bonnie Rose (Richard) of Mobile, AL, Brenda Thyfault (Jim) of Hays and Shari Gale (Randy) of Shell Knob, MO; his stepsiblings, Lester Leiker (Jerri Ann) of Hays, Terry Leiker of LaCrosse, Neal Leiker (Linda) of Hays and Brenda Park (Dan) of Olathe; and his grandchildren, Lawson, Macie, Abigail and Ellie Zimmerman. He is also survived by one grandchild on the way, and numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
Instead of flowers and plants, the family suggests memorials to St. Anthony Catholic Church or to St. Anthony Cemetery, in care of Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
