He was loved and cherished by many people including: his adoptive parents, John O'Brien and Patricia O'Brien (O'Rourke); his parents, John and Patricia; his wife Nancy J. Edgar of St. Paul; his children, Kenneth L. "Otis" Knight (Cyndi Morlan) of Lyndon, Kansas, Paula O'Brien of Overland Park, Kristina Chaney of Prosper and Patrice "Suzie" Calhoun of Parsons; his grandchildren, Leah, Josh, Aja, Gabriel, Sophia, Luke and Ella; and his sons, Josh Smith of Girard and Matt Harmon of St. Paul. He was also cherished by numerous great-grandchildren.
