He was predeceased by: his parents, G. W. "Short" McAtee and Eileen McAtee (Volmer); his sister Mary Ann; and also Deidra Smith. He is survived by: his daughter Ellen Canfield; his grandchild Cooper; his daughter Deborah Counter; his siblings, Marcia Smith of Lawrence, Janet Shaw of Erie and Dale McAtee of Cupertino, CA.; his nephews, Ted, Chris and Greg Smith; and also Bailey Shaw.

Memorials are suggested to the Graves Memorial Library at St. Paul.
