He was predeceased by: his parents, Elizabeth Montgomery and Joseph "Bud" Montgomery; and his sisters, Mary Ann Higgins and Paula Cremers. He is survived by: his wife Peggy; his daughters, Ann Montgomery, Ellen Parker and Karen Montgomery; his grandchildren, Shelby Kissell, Hazel Parker and Roslyn Parker; and his brothers, Phillip Montgomery, Dennis Montgomery, Royce Montgomery, Rick Montgomery and Joe Montgomery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests honorary donations to Women in Aviation International, Huntington's Disease Society of America, or the American Heart Association.
