He is survived by: his daughters, Connie Baer (Robert) of Topeka and Sonja Hurty (Jon) of Moline, Illinois; his grandchildren, Aaron Baer, Matt Baer (Ellen Backus), Kjerstin Kwasigroch (Daniel) and Jens Hurty; his great grandchildren, Beatrice Backus Baer and Alden Joel Kwasigroch; and his sisters-in-law, Lylas Schultz, Jackie Berggren and Bonnie Berggren. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
