He was predeceased by: his parents, Wade Burgess and Adalene Phillips Burgess; his granddaughter Emilee Burgess; and his siblings, Max Burgess, Mona Jeffries and Sharon Fuller.

He is survived by: his wife Bobbie Burgess of Ransom; his children, Greg (Michelle Burgess), Ty (Yvonne Burgess), Becky (Jeff Turner) and Amy (Greg Norris); his brother Jean Burgess of Scott City; his grandchildren, Haley (Robbie Strube), Ethan Burgess, Coley Burgess, Brandon Burgess, Addie Burgess, Sam Burgess, Lane Turner and Cody Turner; his great grandchild Banks Strube; and his pet Silk.

Memorials in Lieu of Flowers may be written to the John Burgess Memorial Fund in care of Price & Sons Funeral Homes.
