He is survived by: his wife Tina Heien (Bauer) of Pratt; his children, Amy Rambat (Russell) of Pratt and John Heien, Jr. (Shawna) of Ozawkie, Kansas; his grandchildren, Lindzie Goldaris (Eli) of Melissa, Lauren Rambat of Dallas, Wyatt of Ozawkie, Kansas, Wiley of Ozawkie, Kansas and Kay Heien of Ozawkie, Kansas; and his great grandchild Goldaris of Indiana.
