He was predeceased by: his wife Marga Maehl; his parents, Knud Maehl and Lillian Maehl; and his siblings, Joergen Maehl and Kirsten Riddervold.
He is survived by: his daughters, Birgit Maehl and Ingrid Maehl; his grandchildren, Joe McMurray, Andrew McMurray, Jamie Maehl and Kelly Boketo-Maehl; and his great grandchildren, Hadyn Maehl and Layla Boketo-Maehl.
